Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is Cornell Global Hubs partner and a private liberal arts university located in Quito, Ecuador. The internship will take place on their main campus located in Cumbayá/Quito.
The university's Institute for Tropical Biodiversity (iBIOTRP) preserve vertebrate animals to include in the Museo de Zoología for scientific research and conservation efforts. As an intern, you'll work with animal specimens and prepare them to be included in iBIOTRP's collection.
You'll need to be comfortable working with dead animals in this internship. Spanish is not required, but is helpful.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
