Overview

Opportunity Description

Host organization: Fundación Futuro Familia, Inclusión, y Desarollo (FUFFID)

Location: Ibarra, Ecuador

Fundación Futuro works to help vulnerable populations with projects that support them in breaking the cycle of poverty and changing their vulnerable status. It works on participatory community development, solidarity economics, fair trade, with migrants, and as well as caring for the environment and climate change. They work to eliminate poverty and discrimination based on gender, race, nationality, and disability.

As an intern, you'll work as a research assistant to the president of FUFFID and provide support for projects about vulnerable populations in various cantons in the north of the country. Research will include: 

  • Internet research aimed at vulnerable populations 

  • Creating summary documents 

  • Meeting with groups of Indigenous people, entrepreneurial women, and/or older adults 

  • Reviewing quantitative data in Excel to obtain averages of socio-demographic data

Funding

All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
