Minimum GPA: 3.00

Eligibility:

To apply, you must be:

  • A rising sophomore, junior, or senior at Cornell.
  • In good standing academically with a cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum and have no unresolved disciplinary charges or sanctions.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the time of the internship.

Students should have:

  • Level of Spanish: Intermediate to advance

  • Transferable Skills: Sustainable, ecological, local, and social Economy, critical thinking

  • Technical Skills: Spreadsheet modeling, Econometrics

  • Related Coursework: Economics, Indigenous Studies

  • Related Experiences: Economic research, community-based projects

If you are motivated, Kichwa private language classes can be paid for on your own in Cotacachi and taken before or after internship hours, you may also apply for partial funding of language classes from LACS.

Requirements:

Students must be able to commit to working full time for the duration of the internship. Interns are not permitted to hold other full-time jobs. Selected interns must participate fully in pre-departure and post-internship sessions.

Interns are required to complete a mid-internship survey and a concluding reflection and evaluation survey. Final commitments from students offered internships are required by March 31, 2024. On April 13, you will receive an orientation and training for the internship.
