Overview
Host organization: New Bloom Magazine
Location: Taipei, Taiwan
New Bloom is an online magazine featuring radical perspectives on Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific. Founded by a group of students and activists after the 2014 Sunflower Movement in Taiwan, it seeks to provide a space that fosters political and intellectual transnational dialogues in the Left.
As an intern, you'll complete one major project. Depending on your interest, this could be a long-form report informed by research and fieldwork, or you could design and coordinate a panel or workshop. Work will also include editing, writing, or translating articles, graphic design, and assisting with event logistics. You may potentially lead a reading group on Taiwanese history and politics.
You'll receive support and constructive feedback from New Bloom staff.
Funding
All Global Interns receive an award totaling at least $3,000 for airfare, transportation, and living expenses. A portion of the stipend may be paid directly to the in-country host to support housing, food, and local transportation.
