Opportunity Description

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is situated in the heart of Switzerland and comprises five schools: Engineering and Architecture, Business, Social Work, Art and Design, Music and in 2016/17 Information Technology. The School of Engineering and Architecture has 1900 students pursuing bachelor's and master's studies in construction and engineering. There are also over 570 individuals in professional development programs. With over 350 faculty members, it is part of the esteemed Universities of Applied Sciences of Switzerland. You can expect state-of-the-art infrastructure and a stimulating interdisciplinary environment. The modern campus offers excellent conditions for teaching and research. The attractive campus is situated at the foot of Mount Pilatus, along the shores of Lake Lucerne.

ABOUT THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Undergraduate students enrolled in DEA may spend one semester, and in some cases, up to a year, studying at Lucerne University's School of Engineering and Architecture. Interior Design is housed within this school.

The School of Engineering and Architecture is well networked with other universities and institutions both in Switzerland and abroad. It has contracts with a number of partner schools from their sector; they actively promote student, researcher and faculty mobility, and take part in ERASMUS and EURESEARCH activities and projects.

The Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is located in its own modern campus in Horw, just 10 minutes from the Lucerne city center. The campus is equipped with state of the art facilities, and is amongst pleasantly landscaped gardens. Lucerne, the capital of Central Switzerland, lies on the shore of the Lake of Lucerne. A world-famous center of culture and tourism, Lucerne offers a wide variety of museums, concerts, and theatres. The lake and nearby Alpine foothills offer opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities, such as hiking, skiing, swimming, sailing, and more.

ACCOMMODATIONS

There are a variety of accommodation options for exchange students in the nearby Lucerne suburbs or in the city center. Students can choose residences that are organized in suites of five rooms or dormitories with individual rooms. There are a range of other housing options which include shared apartments, rooms in a Seminary in the city center, or a Protestant Dorm, and even long term rentals at a Bed and Breakfast on the lake.
