Job Title: Atkinson Intern, Climate-Smart Agriculture Communications
Program/Department: Marketing & Communications and Climate-Smart Agriculture

Job Description: EDF internships provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) which create a foundation for anyone who is serious about pursuing an environmental career.

Program/Department Overview: This internship would exist under both Marketing and Communications and Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), joining the existing communication team that sits within that space. This team provides public-facing communications strategy and content related to the finances, methane emissions, business relationships, science and policy related to climate-smart agriculture. The internship would entail direct communication with other members of the Climate-Smart Agriculture team, including both scientists and program team members.

Overall Function: The intern would function as support for the comms team but work directly with (and report to) the Senior Communications Specialist focused on agricultural methane and the Dairy Methane Action Alliance. The intern’s work will focus on agricultural methane communications, likely including a brand-level social media project and support for the Dairy Methane Action Alliance. Deliverables may include drafting blog posts from start to finish, standardizing tagging and SEO in existing blogs, developing social media content aligned with CSA strategy, drafting pitches for news media and conferences, creating go-to presentations for the program team, and completing research and metrics as needed. Depending on the internship end date, the intern may also help develop content ahead of NY Climate Week in the fall. Communication needs frequently shift, so while strategies may evolve, the above deliverables serve as a baseline.
