Job Title:
Atkinson Intern, Air Quality Advocacy
Program/Department:
Climate & Health Initiative

Job Description: EDF offers internships and fellowships for students and recent graduates in a variety of programs and departments throughout the organization. The ultimate goal of our internship and fellowship program is to provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) that form the foundation for any individual who is serious about pursuing an environmental career.

Program/Department Overview: The Climate & Health Initiative (U.S. Region) works at the nexus of climate and health issues to address longstanding environmental injustices that have led to deep health disparities, with low-wealth communities of color bearing a disproportionate burden, and to prevent exacerbation of those inequities due to climate change. The Initiative works to develop and deploy robust climate, health and equity solutions and tools to build durable, community-centered actions to achieve more equitable health outcomes, reduce climate risks, and drive better economic opportunities for residents in climate-vulnerable frontline communities throughout the U.S.

Overall Function: The intern will conduct basic secondary research and analysis on a range of topics related to air pollution and associated health impact, as well as social and environmental justice issues in the geographic area of focus. The intern will work with the implementing team members for this project which include staff from OCS, EDF’s health scientists, and potentially external collaborators. The intern will report to the Senior Air Quality Policy Manager.
