Overview

Opportunity Description

As New Zealand’s specialist land-based university, with a dedicated mission to help Feed the World, Protect the Future, and Live Well on our planet, we have tailored a range of specific courses for study abroad students who are interested in the Global Challenges the world faces.

What is unique about this program?

Lincoln University courses are firmly anchored in the needs and issues of the real world and Lincoln academics are focused on sustainable management and conservation, while continuing to meet the growing demands of the global population.  At Lincoln, you can also learn how to help others live well through course offerings actively associated with enjoyment, such as viticulture and tourism, as well as sport, recreation and culture. Depending on your academic background, you can choose from any of the courses in our faculties.  Although we have three themes of courses around our Global Challenge program, you can also choose your own adventure by looking at all our courses.

What is unique about Canterbury?

Lincoln University's beautiful campus is located in Canterbury, in the South Island of New Zealand, and offers a unique study and living experience.  The picturesque and park-like 58-hectare campus of Lincoln University has a supportive, multicultural atmosphere. Around 3500 students from more than 60 countries attend our campus, so it's easy to meet new people. The campus has modern teaching facilities, a comprehensive library, and information technology laboratories with 24-hour access, as well as free car parking, eateries, a printery, a travel agency, and world-class sporting facilities.

Lincoln is a short distance from the South Island's largest city, Christchurch, for students who want to experience NZ city life and culture.  Canterbury offers a lot to do, including tons of parks and nature reserves to explore, wine trails and vineyards, cycling, skiing and snowboarding, hiking, art and cultural events, and more.

How do I choose among programs?

  • See the Office of Global Learning’s “Selecting a Program” page for information on program types and considerations
  • Use the search features on the Experience Cornell  Opportunities page to filter for programs approved by your college, and by particular subject areas
  • Go to the “Get Advice” page for information on drop-in advising hours, scheduling an advising appointment, returned student contacts, and college advisors for study abroad
  • Find out about upcoming events, check out FAQs, and read stories from returned study abroad students

How do I apply?

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. You may complete both steps simultaneously, but the Cornell approval process must be complete before your program advisor in the Office of Global Learning can submit any approval or nomination to the program.

  1. For Cornell Approval, click on the "Apply" button on this webpage. Applications are approved by the Office of Global Learning on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this page.
  2. For Program Admission, complete an external application directly on the program’s webpage, using the link in the “Snapshot” section. (Note: This deadline may be in advance of the general Cornell deadline for approval. Many programs fill by rolling admission.)
